Whether your interest in karate is simply a means of improving your physical fitness, helping yourself gain focus and concentration or working to compete at the highest levels in tournaments worldwide (currently, 6 IMA students are members of the US National Team!), most of the the information you’re going to need can be found here.
I have trained at 7 different dojos over my 28 years of off-and-on karate experience, and the IMA organization is clearly the best of them all. Hanshi Madani's decades of experience and passionate commitment to the art and to his students (which he sincerely refers to as his family) are very apparent when you watch him teach, talk to him and learn of his accomplishments. These things became clear to me within the first few months of my training at his school.
Now, after nearly a year and a half with Hanshi, my life path is taking me to California, and I am very sad to be leaving the Madani family and the Louisville, CO IMA dojo. However, I intend to continue to be a part of the IMA family, and bring Hanshi's methods and knowledge to new students in Los Angeles, where I plan to begin teaching once I have moved. To anyone thinking of starting to learn karate, or starting again like I did, my highest recommendation is for IMA karate!
