Update

Dear members and parents,

The recent spike in virus cases in our state has come with the importance of following new restricted guidelines. Luckily, our dojo space has allowed us to keep distance from each other while still being able to provide instruction to all students. We have also increased the number of online instructors as some of our members have decided to attend via Zoom. Whether you chose to move online or continue coming to the dojo, we are committed to providing you with the best instruction possible.

On another note, due to cold weather conditions and dojo window closure, we have invested in five air purifiers to capture all potentially contaminated air and transfer it to clean air. These devices are also certified to eliminate %99 of germs and viruses in the air. The air purifiers will aid in providing a clean and safe environment all around the dojo.

Last but not least, we want you to know that the Dojo will be closed on Thursday and Friday of this week and we will resume classes on Saturday the 28th. We want to take this opportunity to thank each one of you for your continued support of the dojo. We are grateful to all of you who have supported us through this difficult time. We could not have done it without you. Thank you so much!

Have a blessed and healthy Thanksgiving!

The decades best

The new chapter of “Karate’s Decades Best” comes this Friday to WKF YouTube channel. It presents one of the most thrilling finals in the recent history of the Karate World Championships.

WKF’s “Karate’s Decades Best” reviews the most spectacular bouts of the last five World Championships. In the second chapter of episode 2 of “Karate’s Decades Best”, it relives the breath-taking final of Male Kumite -60kg of the Paris 2012 World Championships featuring Douglas Brose of Brazil and Amir Mehdizadeh of Iran.

The title-deciding clash featuring the two titans is so exhilarating that the original video of the bout has garnered no less than 6 million views on WKF YouTube channel. Both Douglas Brose and Amir Mehdizadeh engage in such spectacular demonstration of top-level Kumite, and the final has such an unexpected outcome, that the bout is regarded as one of the most gripping clashes in the history of the World Championships.

The memorable clash of titans is reviewed by Douglas Brose himself, who will relive his appearance in that memorable moment eight years later, and international referee Fariba Madani of the USA, who will give the interesting insight of the judges’ perspective, together with WKF TV Commentator Billy Brennan.

Black Belt Testing

Black Belt Dan Testing on June 27th!

Join us on June 27th, in the open space across from the dojo, as we once again celebrate those junior and senior IMA students who will be testing for their next level of black belt.

The Dan testing will start at 8:30am and will last until about 2:00pm. Everyone is encouraged to come by the Middle school open field and support the students during their testing. And please note: the normally scheduled youth and adult classes will not be held on this day.

Due to unusual circumstances and to protest everyone’s safety and respecting social distancing, the black belt testing will take place outside of the dojo in the open field of middle school. All the group performance will take place outside. Once everyone is finished with the first part of testing, students will be divided by the group of 5 or less and will continue their kata and basic techniques inside of the dojo. For first time, we are also allowing students to choice virtual testing as well. There will be instructors supervising only those students as well.

We regret not to be able to offer any potluck this year. The state restriction and also for everyone’s safety we cannot have a large gathering. We hope to have the opportunity to hold the potluck at some point later in the year.

Good luck everyone!
