Wrestling Dropped from 2020 Olympic Program – The K is on the Way?

As reported on numerous news sites, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recently voted to remove wrestling from the list of sports that will be featured in the 2020 Summer Olympics, opening up the way to potentially have karate be added to the list of 27 other sports, for a maximum of 28.

The list of eight sports seeking inclusion in the 2020 Games are baseball/softball, karate, squash, roller sports, sport climbing, wakeboarding, wushu (a Chinese martial arts sport) and now wrestling. Only one will be put on the 2020 program and it’s unlikely wrestling will be the one selected so soon after being dropped.

Please visit the official WKF website designed to help spread the word about bringing karate to the 2020 Olympics.

Have a Happy Valentine’s Day and Keep Training!
