2008 Gasshuku

IMA hosted another wonderful "Summer Camp" or "Gasshuku" at the heart of Rocky Mountain. Due to some changes of our location from Winter Park to Keystone, the Gasshuku was held in the middle of Ocotber but in a beautiful convention center and with wonderful weather.
Here are some testemony from the participants of this year camp:

Shihan,
Good Morning. Thank you to you and Sensei Madani for all your work and organization to make another great camp. I think the focus and participation from the karateka was the best I have seen. The level of instruction just continues to get better. We are lucky to learn from the expertise of Sensei' s Igaki, Richeaux and Neagu and of course yourself.
I wish we could have been able to bring more of our students. Maybe next year. Doris and Jennifer were very excited to share what they learned with the classes at the dojo.

Thank you again
Rick McGavin IMA North Fork Karate

Dear Shihan and Sensei,

Congratulations on another very successful camp. The location and facilities were excellent, and the scenery was just great. I thought that the quality of the instruction was very strong and enjoyed the classes very much. For every class there was at least one thing that I will remember for a long time and incorporate into my karate. I believe that because there were fewer classes this year, that all of the students had a high level of enthusiasm for every class. No one felt too tired or like they would rather stay in bed, everyone wanted to train. It felt good to work out in every class, and when I got home I felt good and strong, not burned out. The only new instructor was Sensei Catalin. While he is humble and sometimes keeps quiet (maybe I could learn something from him in this department!), his knowledge of karate is really impressive and he did a great job. The lower belts also told me that they really liked his classes. He is a really great addition to the IMA family. Of course Sensei Patrick did an excellent job, as did Sensei Igaki. Your class on Gojushiho-dai was really incredible. To be able to teach such a complex kata in only about an hour was really something. When we started I was thinking this is so complex I will never get it in one class, but I did (mostly) get it. Look forward to working on this kata for many years.
Most importantly, I think my son had a great time.
All ready looking forward to next year.
Best,
Bob McCormick

I thought it was great venue- I really enjoyed it. I wish we could have stayed for the whole weekend! The only thing I can think of that I might change is to possibly make it a few weeks earlier so the weather is better- but other than that, I thought the place and the classes were great~!
Thanks for putting it together, I know you guys spend a lot of time and effort organizing the camp-

Sara
